Regional Teams

Regional teams play against other ringette associations in our provincial zone, balancing skill development, fun and friendship as players grow on and off the ice. The level of competition and expectation of commitment is higher at this level. Players are expected to attend weekly practices and games. Skaters require hockey-style skates, full protective gear (shin guards, girdle/pants OR socks/hockey shorts, chest protector, elbow pads, neck guard, gloves), a ringette stick and a CSA-approved helmet with ringette cage. Player registration fees include:

  • Weekly practices from September to March, either in Gravenhurst or Bala (days and times to be determined)
    • Practices are 50-minutes long
    • Breaks align with the school year calendar
    • 10 home and 10 away games
  • Administrative costs, including Ringette Ontario fees ($92 per player)
  • Use of a home and away game jersey (must be returned in good condition)
  • Final regional tournament team entrance fee
  • End of year banquet costs & awards

Team Formation:

Player registration influences the array of team options available to players. Players should register at the level appropriate for their birth year. Moves may be considered at the Muskoka Ringette Association Board of Directors on a case-by-case basis through the Ringette Ontario-approved policies and procedures, to ensure the safety of players and team viability. In 2026/2027, the birth years for various age groups are as follows:

  • FUN3 (2017/2018 birth years)
  • U12 (2015/2016 birth years)
  • U14 (2013/2014 birth years)
  • U16 (2011/2012 birth years)
  • U19 (2008-2010 birth years)

Optional Fees:

All regular costs to play a full season of ringette are included in our player registration fees. Throughout the year, optional opportunities may be offered, which sometimes come with an extra cost, paid directly by parents. These may include:

  • Additional tournaments
  • Skill clinics (power skating, goalie clinics, etc.)
  • Additional practices
  • Player Photos
  • Association Merchandise

These additional costs are generally optional and will be communicated in advance to player families to make decisions. The Muskoka Royals are also exploring team fundraising options to help keep these optional costs as low as possible.

Player Safety / Respect in Sport:

Parents must be in the arena when their kids are in the arena or appoint another adult as caretaker of their player while away. Like most organized sports, all registered players must submit proof of completion of the Respect In Sport For Parents program for at least one parent/guardian before the player steps onto the ice. It is a one-time course, so if a parent/guardian has already taken it for another child or sport, there is no need to do it again: simply provide the unique completion code during registration or via email to development@muskokaroyals.com.

Refund Policy:

Please note the Muskoka Ringette Association refund dates below:

  • Before September 1: Full refund (minus Ringette Ontario fee)
