Ringette, invented in North Bay, Ontario, is a team-based sport that is played on ice with skates and equipment similar to hockey. Instead of a puck, ringette uses a circular ring and a stick with no blade. Ringette is a non-contact sport, with no offside and uses a 30 second shot clock to make the game faster.
Ringette is played at all levels; House League, Regional, Provincial, Team Ontario and Team Canada. Canada boasts over 30,000 registered players on nearly 2000 teams across the country.
The Muskoka Ringette Association is a non-profit organization that promotes the sport of Ringette in the Muskoka area, servicing Bracebridge, Gravenhurst, Huntsville and surrounding areas with the District of Muskoka. Originally formed in 1995 as the West Muskoka Ringette Association, it became a non-profit corporation in 2021.
